Options for sliding and folding industrial doors in Essex

Folding leaves. Bi-folding leaves stack neatly where side wall space is limited.
Wide spans. Openings of almost any width split into as many leaves as needed.
No headroom needed. With side-opening leaves, cranes, lights and services overhead stay clear.
Top-hung or bottom-rolling. Weight carried overhead or on a floor rail, chosen to suit the structure.
Wicket doors. Pass doors built into a leaf so staff need not open the whole door.

Typical scopes of work

Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
Replacing worn timber sliding doors on a storage building with steel-framed bottom-rolling doors and a wicket door.
Renewing seized trolleys and a distorted overhead track on large sliding doors to a vehicle shed.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Essex are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Planning the work around your site

For busy sites in the East of England the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Questions from businesses in Essex

Which is better for our Essex site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?

Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.

Can our existing sliding doors in Essex be motorised?

Often, if the leaves and track are in good condition. We assess the doors, fit a drive and the safety devices needed, and take on the conformity responsibilities that come with converting a manual door to power.

How long does it take to fit sliding doors in Essex?

A pair of manual sliding doors on a sound structure is usually fitted in a day or two. Large folding doors, electric operation and new steelwork add time, which we set out with your quote.
