What we fit in St Andrews
- No headroom needed. Leaves move sideways, so nothing coils above or runs under the roof.
- Robust build. Steel-framed leaves with steel, panel or timber cladding.
- Folding leaves. Where there is little wall either side, folding leaves concertina into a compact stack.
- Top-hung or bottom-rolling. Weight carried overhead or on a floor rail, chosen to suit the structure.
- Wicket doors. Pass doors built into a leaf so staff need not open the whole door.
What this work can involve
- Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
- Adding a steel support beam and top-hung track so a sliding door leaves the floor flush for forklifts.
- Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.
Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland
Industrial doors in St Andrews are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
Keeping your site running during the work
Electrical work is the part that most often delays a job. If a new or converted door needs a supply, we confirm the motor's requirement at quote stage so your electrician can provide an isolator in the right place before installation day.
