Options that matter on site

Wicket doors. A personnel door within a leaf saves sliding the main door for every visit.
Electric operation. Motorised leaves with the safety devices needed to protect against crushing and shearing.
Wide spans. Very wide openings are handled by adding leaves, so width is rarely a limit.
Top-hung or bottom-rolling. We hang the door from above or run it on a floor rail depending on what the building can support.
Robust build. Steel-framed leaves with steel, panel or timber cladding.

Typical scopes of work

Adding a steel support beam and top-hung track so a sliding door leaves the floor flush for forklifts.
Replacing a damaged floor rail and guide wheels on a bottom-rolling door struck by a vehicle.
Fitting bi-folding doors to a maintenance workshop where overhead gantry cranes rule out a roller shutter or sectional door.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Dukinfield are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Keeping your site running during the work

Most installations in Dukinfield can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Questions from businesses in Dukinfield

Can our existing sliding doors in Dukinfield be motorised?

Often, if the leaves and track are in good condition. We assess the doors, fit a drive and the safety devices needed, and take on the conformity responsibilities that come with converting a manual door to power.

Which is better for our Dukinfield site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?

Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.

How long does it take to fit sliding doors in Dukinfield?

A pair of manual sliding doors on a sound structure is usually fitted in a day or two. Large folding doors, electric operation and new steelwork add time, which we set out with your quote.
