Options for sliding and folding industrial doors in Prescot
- Electric operation. Motor drives with safety edges, photocells and guarding where needed.
- Wide spans. Very wide openings are handled by adding leaves, so width is rarely a limit.
- No headroom needed. With side-opening leaves, cranes, lights and services overhead stay clear.
- Top-hung or bottom-rolling. Weight carried overhead or on a floor rail, chosen to suit the structure.
- Insulated options. Insulated panel infill and edge seals for heated buildings.
What this work can involve
- Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.
- Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
- Adding a steel support beam and top-hung track so a sliding door leaves the floor flush for forklifts.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Prescot?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Frequently asked questions
How much do sliding or folding industrial doors cost in Prescot?
Our guide price is £5,995 to £24,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted, depending on size, number of leaves, infill and whether the doors are manual or electric. After a free survey in Prescot we confirm the fixed price in writing.
Will a sliding door fit our building in Prescot?
It needs wall space to the side for the leaves to slide past, or room for folded leaves to stack. We measure this on survey and choose between sliding, telescopic and folding layouts to suit what is there.
Which is better for our Prescot site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?
Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.
