What we fit in Feltham

Emergency devices. Lever or push-pad devices to BS EN 179 for exits used by trained staff.
Fire-rated doorsets. Where a door must hold back fire, we supply tested fire-rated doorsets and fit them exactly as specified.
Complete doorsets. Everything comes together as a matched doorset, so it fits and works as designed.
Outside access. Staff can get in from outside with a key or code, but the exit always opens freely from inside.
Louvres and vision. Ventilation louvres for plant and switch rooms, and glazed panels where people need to see through.

What this work can involve

Fitting a louvred double steel door to a plant room or electrical switch room to keep it ventilated and secure.
Replacing seized BS EN 179 push pads on staff-only exits in a factory or production building.
Supplying 60-minute fire-resisting steel doorsets for the compartment walls set out in a building's fire strategy.

Which workplace rules apply to these doors?

For premises in Feltham, the Workplace Regulations 1992 set the basics: doors suitably constructed, swing doors giving a clear view through when closed, and maintenance under regulation 5. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, an emergency exit door must open easily in the direction of travel and must not be locked or fastened so it cannot be opened immediately in an emergency.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Your questions about steel personnel and fire exit doors

Can a steel door at our Feltham unit be security rated?

Yes. Where an insurer asks for a formal rating, we supply steel doorsets certified to LPS 1175 and install them to the certified specification. Let us know the rating required so we can quote the right product.

Which fire exit hardware do we need at our Feltham site?

If members of the public or people unfamiliar with the exit may use it, panic hardware to BS EN 1125 is normally required. Exits used only by trained staff who know the door can use emergency devices to BS EN 179. If in doubt, choose BS EN 1125.

Can you fit fire-rated steel doors in Feltham?

Yes. We supply fire-resisting steel doorsets with the manufacturer's test evidence for the rating your fire strategy needs, and install them strictly to the manufacturer's instructions, including seals, gaps and approved hardware.
