What we fit in Thurso

Complete doorsets. Everything comes together as a matched doorset, so it fits and works as designed.
Fire-rated doorsets. Where a door must hold back fire, we supply tested fire-rated doorsets and fit them exactly as specified.
Panic hardware. Push bars to BS EN 1125 where the public or unfamiliar people may use the exit.
Outside access. Key or code access from outside while the exit stays free from inside.
Galvanised steel. Double-skin galvanised steel leaves with powder-coated finishes.

Typical scopes of work

Changing worn panic bars on fire exits and adjusting the overhead closers so each door latches properly.
Replacing a rotted timber fire exit door with a galvanised steel doorset and a BS EN 1125 panic bar.
Replacing seized BS EN 179 push pads on staff-only exits in a factory or production building.

Which workplace rules apply to these doors?

For premises in Thurso, the Workplace Regulations 1992 set the basics: doors suitably constructed, swing doors giving a clear view through when closed, and maintenance under regulation 5. Under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, an emergency exit door must open easily in the direction of travel and must not be locked or fastened so it cannot be opened immediately in an emergency.

Access, phasing and timing

For busy sites in the Highlands and Islands the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.
