What we fit in Lytham St Annes

Outside access. Staff can get in from outside with a key or code, but the exit always opens freely from inside.
Fire-rated doorsets. Fire-resisting steel doors with the manufacturer's test evidence, fitted to its instructions.
Panic hardware. Push bars to BS EN 1125 where the public or unfamiliar people may use the exit.
Complete doorsets. Everything comes together as a matched doorset, so it fits and works as designed.
Galvanised steel. Leaves made from two zinc-coated steel skins, finished in a hard-wearing powder coat.

Examples of work we can quote for

Changing worn panic bars on fire exits and adjusting the overhead closers so each door latches properly.
Installing a steel staff entrance door with an overhead closer and keypad access beside a loading bay.
Installing a leaf-and-a-half steel doorset so equipment can pass through a plant room door when needed.

Door rules for workplaces in England

Doors in Lytham St Annes workplaces are covered by regulation 18 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992: a door that can be pushed open from either side must give, when closed, a clear view of the space close to both sides, which is why swing doors on traffic routes have vision panels. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, emergency exit doors must open easily and immediately in the direction of escape.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Questions from businesses in Lytham St Annes

Can our Lytham St Annes fire exit be locked from outside?

Yes. It can be secure from outside, with a key or code device or no external hardware, as long as it always opens from inside using the exit hardware. Never lock or chain a fire exit while people are in the building.

Can a steel door at our Lytham St Annes unit be security rated?

Yes. Where an insurer asks for a formal rating, we supply steel doorsets certified to LPS 1175 and install them to the certified specification. Let us know the rating required so we can quote the right product.

Do you repair fire exit doors across Lancashire?

Yes. We repair and replace panic bars, emergency devices, closers, hinges and locks on steel doors across Lancashire. Repair visits are chargeable, and on fire-rated doors we only fit hardware covered by the door's test evidence.
