Working with sites across Tyne and Wear
Need industrial door installers covering Tyne and Wear? We handle the whole job — survey, specification, supply, installation, commissioning and servicing — for warehouses, factories, workshops and public buildings.
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Tyne and Wear?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Fire shutter law in England
A fire shutter only does its job if it closes when needed. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must keep fire safety equipment maintained in efficient working order, and keeping test records is the usual way to show it. Shutters must also stay as the manufacturer tested and certified them, so repairs should use the right parts. In Tyne and Wear, the enforcing authority is the local fire and rescue authority.
Questions about work in Tyne and Wear
Who will we contract with for work in Tyne and Wear?
Your contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which trades as Industrial Door Installers. The written quote sets out the scope, price and payment terms.
Do prices in the North East differ from the guide prices?
Guide prices apply to mainland UK sites. For islands and remote sites, travel and access costs are added and shown in your quote. Your fixed price depends on the door, size, access and working hours, and is confirmed in writing after the survey.
Can you work outside normal hours in Tyne and Wear?
Yes. Many installations and fire shutter tests are done early, late or at weekends to avoid disrupting operations. Out-of-hours working is priced in the written quote.
Do you cover Tyne and Wear?
Yes. We survey, install, repair and service industrial doors and loading bay equipment for businesses in Tyne and Wear and the rest of the North East. Tell us the site postcode and what you need and we will arrange a visit.
