Quick answer
Loading bays take a beating from reversing trailers. At sites in Essex, we can replace worn dock bumpers, add wheel guides and fit corner bollards to protect doors, levellers, shelters and the building itself.

What to specify
- High visibility. Bright finishes make protection easy for drivers to see and avoid.
- Suitable fixings. We choose anchor bolts or foundations depending on the slab and expected impacts.
- Frame buffers. Buffers cushion knocks to frame edges and wall corners around the opening.
- Steel bollards. Galvanised, painted steel bollards, concrete-filled where needed.
- Guide-rail guards. Protect the bottom of guides and tracks, where forks and pallets strike most often.
Jobs we can carry out
- Installing wheel guides and corner bollards on a run of loading bays to protect the shelter frames.
- Fitting rubber corner buffers to a door frame where pallet trucks clip the wall on a tight turn.
- Placing bollards beside a fire shutter so stored goods and trucks cannot obstruct its closing line.
What the law expects at a loading bay
Across Great Britain, including Essex, loading bays bring together several duties: maintained work equipment under PUWER 1998, safe traffic routes under the Workplace Regulations 1992, and safe powered doors under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008. Dock levellers should meet BS EN 1398, and the site's risk assessment should cover vehicle creep and drive-aways.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Will fitting bollards damage the floor at our Essex site?
We check slab thickness and look for buried services before drilling. Polymer bollards and proper foundations reduce the risk of slab cracking on heavy impacts, and we recommend the right fixing for your floor.
How long does it take to fit door protection in Essex?
Usually a few hours per door for base-plated bollards and guide guards. Bollards set in foundations take longer because of coring or excavation, and are often fitted out of hours to avoid disrupting traffic.
Do you replace dock bumpers across the East of England?
Yes. We replace worn dock bumpers and fit wheel guides and corner bollards at loading bays across the East of England, often during a leveller service or bay refurbishment to save a separate visit.
