Options for cold store and freezer doors in Cumbria

Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.

Jobs we can carry out

Renewing worn gaskets and the frame heater on a chiller door that no longer seals properly.
Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Cumbria are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Access, phasing and timing

For busy sites in the North West the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Questions from businesses in Cumbria

Do you repair cold store doors in Cumbria?

Yes. We replace gaskets, frame heaters, rollers, tracks, releases and drives on most makes. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before larger repairs or recommend replacement when the leaf itself has failed.

Can you replace a freezer door at our Cumbria site without losing stock?

We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.

Can our cold store door in Cumbria be made electric?

Often, yes, if the leaf and track are sound, or with a new electric sliding door. Powered cold store doors need safety edges and photocells and a drive suited to the temperature.
