Options that matter on site

Inside release. An emergency release on the inside face so nobody can be shut in.
Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Hygienic finishes. Plastisol-coated steel, stainless steel or GRP for food and pharmaceutical use.
Tight seals. The leaf pulls in against its gaskets on closing so cold air stays where it belongs.
Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.

What this work can involve

Renewing worn gaskets and the frame heater on a chiller door that no longer seals properly.
Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.

Powered door rules that apply in Crowborough

Crowborough is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

For busy sites in East Sussex the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.
