Options for cold store and freezer doors in Tewkesbury
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Heated frames. Heater cables in freezer door frames stop ice welding the seals shut.
- Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Inside release. An emergency release on the inside face so nobody can be shut in.
What this work can involve
- Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
- Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
- Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Powered door rules that apply in Tewkesbury
Tewkesbury is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
Planning the work around your site
Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Your questions about cold store and freezer doors
Do you repair cold store doors in Tewkesbury?
Yes. We replace gaskets, frame heaters, rollers, tracks, releases and drives on most makes. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before larger repairs or recommend replacement when the leaf itself has failed.
Why is our cold room door in Tewkesbury hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
What safety release do cold store doors in Tewkesbury need?
Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
