What we fit in Atherton
- Heated frames. Heater cables in freezer door frames stop ice welding the seals shut.
- Hygienic finishes. Smooth, cleanable finishes chosen to meet your hygiene and audit standards.
- Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
- Impact protection. Kick plates, buffers and bollards to keep trucks off leaves and frames.
- Thick insulation. Foam-filled leaves sized to the room temperature, from chillers to freezers.
What this work can involve
- Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.
- Renewing worn gaskets and the frame heater on a chiller door that no longer seals properly.
- Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Atherton?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
How the work is organised
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Cold store and freezer doors in Atherton: your questions
Why is our cold room door in Atherton hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
How much does a cold store or freezer door cost in Atherton?
Our guide price for a sliding cold store or freezer door is £6,495 to £17,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. Size, temperature, insulation and electric operation set the final price, confirmed in writing after a free survey in Atherton.
Can our cold store door in Atherton be made electric?
Often, yes, if the leaf and track are sound, or with a new electric sliding door. Powered cold store doors need safety edges and photocells and a drive suited to the temperature.
