Options that matter on site
- Heated frames. Heater cables in freezer door frames stop ice welding the seals shut.
- Tight seals. The leaf pulls in against its gaskets on closing so cold air stays where it belongs.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
- Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.
- Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Powered door rules that apply in Gwynedd
Gwynedd is in Wales, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
Access, phasing and timing
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Questions from businesses in Gwynedd
Can our cold store door in Gwynedd be made electric?
Often, yes, if the leaf and track are sound, or with a new electric sliding door. Powered cold store doors need safety edges and photocells and a drive suited to the temperature.
What safety release do cold store doors in Gwynedd need?
Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
Do you supply cold store doors for food businesses in Wales?
Yes. We supply and fit cold store doors with hygienic finishes for food producers, processors, distributors and commercial kitchens across Wales, and we talk through your hygiene, cleaning and audit requirements at the survey before recommending a finish.
