Options that matter on site
- Inside release. Every door can be opened from inside without a key, even if locked from outside.
- Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
- Thick insulation. Foam-filled leaves sized to the room temperature, from chillers to freezers.
- Electric sliding. Motorised sliding doors with pull cords, radar or loops and safety edges.
- Hygienic finishes. Smooth, cleanable finishes chosen to meet your hygiene and audit standards.
Typical scopes of work
- Motorising a heavy manual cold store door with pull-cord activation, a safety edge on the closing leaf and photocells.
- Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
- Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Rickmansworth are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
Access, phasing and timing
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
