Options for cold store and freezer doors in Frome
- Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
- Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Pressure relief. We check pressure relief so a tightly sealed room does not suck the door shut.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Motorising a heavy manual cold store door with pull-cord activation, a safety edge on the closing leaf and photocells.
- Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.
- Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Frome are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
Access, phasing and timing
Most installations in Frome can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Cold store and freezer doors in Frome: your questions
Why is our cold room door in Frome hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
Can you replace a freezer door at our Frome site without losing stock?
We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.
Can our cold store door in Frome be made electric?
Often, yes, if the leaf and track are sound, or with a new electric sliding door. Powered cold store doors need safety edges and photocells and a drive suited to the temperature.
