In short
New-build loading docks in Staines-upon-Thames need levellers planned early. We provide pit details for the groundworks contractor, then fit and commission the levellers and interlock them with the dock doors once those are in.

What to specify
- Telescopic lips. Extending lips placed precisely on the bed for awkward vehicles and loads.
- Toe guards. Guards along each side keep feet out from under the moving platform.
- Pit work. We sort the pit too, from re-edging an old one to detailing a new one.
- Swing-lip levellers. Robust hinged-lip levellers for standard trailer traffic.
- Door interlocks. Leveller works only with the door open; the door cannot close on it.
Typical scopes of work
- Replacing worn swing-lip dock levellers in their existing pits, with pit edge repairs and new dock bumpers.
- Fitting telescopic-lip levellers for a fleet whose trailers do not always park tight against the dock buffers.
- Interlocking new hydraulic levellers with sectional dock doors so neither can be used out of sequence.
What the law expects at a loading bay
Across Great Britain, including Staines-upon-Thames, loading bays bring together several duties: maintained work equipment under PUWER 1998, safe traffic routes under the Workplace Regulations 1992, and safe powered doors under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008. Dock levellers should meet BS EN 1398, and the site's risk assessment should cover vehicle creep and drive-aways.
How the work is organised
For busy sites in Surrey the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Frequently asked questions
Can our dock leveller in Staines-upon-Thames be interlocked with the door?
Yes. We fit interlocks so the leveller only operates with the door fully open, and the door cannot close while the leveller is deployed. It suits both new and existing bays, subject to the controls on each.
How long does it take to fit a dock leveller in Staines-upon-Thames?
A single leveller into a prepared pit is typically fitted and commissioned in a day. Pit repairs or modifications can add time, and we plan work around your loading schedule, bay by bay.
How much is a dock leveller in Staines-upon-Thames?
Our guide price is £6,495 to £10,995 ex VAT for a hydraulic swing-lip leveller into a prepared pit, and £8,495 to £13,995 for telescopic lip. Your fixed price in Staines-upon-Thames, including any pit work, is confirmed in writing after a free survey.
