At a glance
Each dock leveller project in Surrey starts with a free survey of the dock, the pit, the vehicles that call and the loads you move, followed by a written fixed price before any work begins.

What to specify
- Toe guards. Guards along each side keep feet out from under the moving platform.
- Sized to your fleet. Platform length and capacity chosen for your vehicles and forklifts.
- Commissioning. Each leveller tested and handed over with records and instructions.
- Telescopic lips. Extending lips placed precisely on the bed for awkward vehicles and loads.
- Velocity fuse. If pressure is lost suddenly, the platform locks instead of dropping.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Replacing a mechanical leveller with a hydraulic unit that has single-button automatic operation and a velocity fuse.
- Interlocking new hydraulic levellers with sectional dock doors so neither can be used out of sequence.
- Fitting telescopic-lip levellers for a fleet whose trailers do not always park tight against the dock buffers.
Who is responsible for loading bay equipment at a site in Surrey?
The employer or occupier is. PUWER 1998 requires work equipment to be maintained and inspected, and the Workplace Regulations 1992 cover vehicle and pedestrian routes around the dock. In practice that means planned servicing of levellers and doors, daily pre-use checks and a clear procedure to stop trailers moving during loading.
Access, phasing and timing
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Dock levellers in Surrey: your questions
Do you service and repair dock levellers across the South East?
Yes. We service and repair most makes of dock leveller across the South East, including hydraulic power packs, cylinders, hoses, lips, hinges and controls. Service and repair visits are chargeable and priced before work starts.
Can you replace the dock leveller at our Surrey warehouse using the existing pit?
Usually, yes. We measure the pit on survey and allow for any cutting, repair or re-edging needed. If the new unit is a different size, the quote covers the pit modifications as a separate line.
