Options for door automation and controls in Ely

Safety devices. Every automated door gets the detection its risk assessment needs, tested before use.
Manual override. A manual means of opening is always kept, so the door is never stuck shut without power.
Interlocks. Doors linked to each other, to levellers or to the alarm so they work in the right sequence.
Traffic lights. Red and green lights and warning beacons for drivers.
Inverter drives. Frequency inverters move busy doors faster while cutting wear on every cycle.

Examples of work we can quote for

Converting hand-chained sectional doors to electric operation with push-button controls, safety edges and photocells.
Replacing an obsolete control panel with a modern unit, then re-testing the safety devices and closing forces.
Installing an airlock interlock between two high-speed doors so only one can be open at a time.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Ely?

In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Planning the work around your site

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.
