What to specify

Inverter drives. Soft start and stop with faster opening for high-cycle doors.
Traffic lights. Red and green lights and warning beacons for drivers.
Matched motors. Direct, centre-mounted, chain-drive or tubular motors sized to the door.
Activation options. Buttons, key switches, remotes, pull cords, loops, radar and access control.
Manual override. A manual means of opening is always kept, so the door is never stuck shut without power.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
Replacing an obsolete control panel with a modern unit, then re-testing the safety devices and closing forces.
Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.

Powered door rules that apply in Huntingdon

Huntingdon is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Questions from businesses in Huntingdon

How long does a door automation job take in Huntingdon?

A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.

How much does it cost to make a door electric in Huntingdon?

Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Huntingdon follows a free survey.

Can you add interlocks or traffic lights to doors around Cambridgeshire?

Yes. We fit airlock interlocks, door-to-leveller interlocks, traffic lights and warning beacons to new and existing doors across Cambridgeshire, subject to compatibility with the control panels already fitted, and replace panels where they cannot accept the extra inputs.
