What we fit in Scarborough
- Matched motors. The motor type and size are chosen for the door's weight, space and cycle count.
- Manual-to-electric. Conversions for sectional, roller and sliding doors in good order.
- Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
- Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and light curtains, force-tested to BS EN 12453.
- Traffic lights. Signals show drivers when the door is fully open and warn when it moves.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Replacing an obsolete control panel with a modern unit, then re-testing the safety devices and closing forces.
- Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.
- Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
Powered door rules that apply in Scarborough
Scarborough is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
How the work is organised
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Which activation would suit our Scarborough site?
It depends on who uses the door. Buttons suit staff, remotes suit drivers, pull cords and loops suit forklifts, and radar suits mixed traffic. We look at your traffic on survey and recommend a set-up.
How long does a door automation job take in Scarborough?
A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
Do you take responsibility for the conformity paperwork in Scarborough?
Yes. When we convert a door to power, we carry out the risk assessment, test the door and issue the Declaration of Conformity and user instructions, as the person who has made it a machine.
