What we fit in the West Midlands
- Inverter drives. Frequency inverters move busy doors faster while cutting wear on every cycle.
- Manual-to-electric. Hand-operated doors converted to power, with the paperwork a powered door needs.
- Matched motors. The motor type and size are chosen for the door's weight, space and cycle count.
- Activation options. Choose how the door is opened, from staff buttons to automatic vehicle detection.
- Safety devices. Every automated door gets the detection its risk assessment needs, tested before use.
Jobs we can carry out
- Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.
- Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
- Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
Powered door rules that apply in the West Midlands
The West Midlands is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
Planning the work around your site
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Which activation would suit our the West Midlands site?
It depends on who uses the door. Buttons suit staff, remotes suit drivers, pull cords and loops suit forklifts, and radar suits mixed traffic. We look at your traffic on survey and recommend a set-up.
Do you take responsibility for the conformity paperwork in the West Midlands?
Yes. When we convert a door to power, we carry out the risk assessment, test the door and issue the Declaration of Conformity and user instructions, as the person who has made it a machine.
How long does a door automation job take in the West Midlands?
A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
