What to specify

Activation options. Choose how the door is opened, from staff buttons to automatic vehicle detection.
Traffic lights. Red and green lights and warning beacons for drivers.
Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
Inverter drives. Soft start and stop with faster opening for high-cycle doors.
Safety devices. Every automated door gets the detection its risk assessment needs, tested before use.

Typical scopes of work

Fitting induction loops and an inverter control panel so forklifts can open a busy internal door without stopping.
Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.

Powered door rules that apply in Halesowen

Halesowen is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

Most installations in Halesowen can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Your questions about door automation and controls

Can you add interlocks or traffic lights to doors around the West Midlands?

Yes. We fit airlock interlocks, door-to-leveller interlocks, traffic lights and warning beacons to new and existing doors across the West Midlands, subject to compatibility with the control panels already fitted, and replace panels where they cannot accept the extra inputs.

How much does it cost to make a door electric in Halesowen?

Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Halesowen follows a free survey.

How long does a door automation job take in Halesowen?

A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
