Options for door automation and controls in Yeadon

Activation options. Choose how the door is opened, from staff buttons to automatic vehicle detection.
Matched motors. The motor type and size are chosen for the door's weight, space and cycle count.
Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and light curtains, force-tested to BS EN 12453.
Inverter drives. Soft start and stop with faster opening for high-cycle doors.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.
Converting hand-chained sectional doors to electric operation with push-button controls, safety edges and photocells.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Yeadon are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Planning the work around your site

Most installations in Yeadon can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Your questions about door automation and controls

Which activation would suit our Yeadon site?

It depends on who uses the door. Buttons suit staff, remotes suit drivers, pull cords and loops suit forklifts, and radar suits mixed traffic. We look at your traffic on survey and recommend a set-up.

Do automated doors in Yeadon need more maintenance?

Powered doors need their motors, controls and safety devices checked as well as the mechanical parts, so at least an annual service is common practice, more often for busy doors. Servicing visits are chargeable; the survey for an automation job is free.

How long does a door automation job take in Yeadon?

A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
