How we look after doors in Thurso

Scheduling. Service intervals agreed with you, from annual to six-monthly on busy sites.
Most makes. Shutters from most manufacturers serviced, whether or not we installed them.
Mechanical checks. Guides, laths, bottom rail and smoke seals inspected and cleaned so nothing stops a full closure.
Drive and back-up. Motors, brakes, limit settings and battery units checked for reliable operation.
Written records. A service report per shutter for your fire safety logbook.

Examples of work we can quote for

Drop-testing compartment fire shutters every six months, coordinated with the fire alarm contractor's scheduled test visit.
Testing service-yard fire shutters out of hours so the closure test does not block a busy delivery route.
Replacing a failed battery back-up unit so a fire shutter closes under control when mains power is lost.

Fire shutter law in Scotland

A fire shutter only does its job if it closes when needed. Under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, the dutyholder must keep fire safety equipment maintained in efficient working order, and keeping test records is the usual way to show it. Shutters must also stay as the manufacturer tested and certified them, so repairs should use the right parts. In Thurso, the enforcing authority is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
