What our engineers check and fix
- Written records. Clear records of what was tested, the result and any actions, ready for your fire risk assessor.
- Alarm interface. Release signal and fail-safe operation checked, with your alarm contractor where needed.
- Mechanical checks. Curtain, barrel, guides, bottom rail and seals inspected for damage and wear.
- Closure test. Each shutter released as the alarm would and its descent timed and checked.
- Scheduling. Six-monthly or annual visits set to suit your risk assessment.
What this work can involve
- Realigning and clearing fire shutter guides damaged by pallet trucks so nothing prevents a full, square closure.
- Drop-testing compartment fire shutters every six months, coordinated with the fire alarm contractor's scheduled test visit.
- Testing service-yard fire shutters out of hours so the closure test does not block a busy delivery route.
Who must keep fire shutters working at a site in Blyth?
The responsible person, usually the employer, owner or managing agent, has the duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Your fire risk assessment should list each shutter, how it is released and how often it is tested, and the local fire and rescue authority may ask how the shutters are maintained.
Planning the work around your site
Service and repair visits in Blyth are booked around your shifts. Doors and shutters are taken out of use one at a time, so the rest of the site keeps working while each one is checked.
