How we look after doors in Hexham
- Alarm interface. We coordinate with your fire alarm engineer so the release signal and the shutter are proven together.
- Drive and back-up. Motors, brakes, limit settings and battery units checked for reliable operation.
- Mechanical checks. Guides, laths, bottom rail and smoke seals inspected and cleaned so nothing stops a full closure.
- Scheduling. Six-monthly or annual visits set to suit your risk assessment.
- Written records. Clear records of what was tested, the result and any actions, ready for your fire risk assessor.
What this work can involve
- Carrying out a first service on fire shutters in a newly occupied unit, recording each shutter's make, label and condition.
- Servicing fire shutters on conveyor openings, including checks that the conveyor clears the closing line before the shutter descends.
- Replacing a failed battery back-up unit so a fire shutter closes under control when mains power is lost.

Frequently asked questions
How often should fire shutters in Hexham be tested?
Follow the manufacturer and your fire risk assessment. A full service with closure test at least annually is common practice, with six-monthly visits on busy sites or shutters used daily.
What happens if a fire shutter in Hexham fails its test?
We tell you on the day, explain the cause and the risk, and quote any repair. Your fire risk assessor should know about a shutter that is out of service until it is fixed.
Can you service fire shutters at our Hexham site that we didn't buy from you?
Yes. We service most makes across Northumberland. On the first visit we record each shutter's details and condition so future services and any repairs are straightforward.
