What we fit in Spalding

Electric drive. Tubular or external geared motors with a manual override for power cuts.
Controls. From a simple button station to loops and radar, the controls match how often the door opens.
Weather seals. Seals along the guides, head and bottom rail stop wind-driven rain and cold air getting in.
Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and anti-fall devices fitted as the risk assessment requires.
Foam-filled laths. Each lath has two metal skins with insulating foam between them, so the curtain holds heat far better.

Jobs we can carry out

Renewing worn guide brushes, the head seal and the bottom-rail seal on an insulated roller door that lets in draughts.
Installing an insulated roller door with induction loop activation on a busy internal forklift route.
Converting a hand-chained insulated roller door to electric operation with a safety edge and photocells.

Powered door rules that apply in Spalding

Spalding is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Planning the work around your site

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions

Does a powered insulated roller door in Spalding need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

Is there enough headroom for an insulated roller door at our Spalding unit?

The coil on an insulated curtain is larger than on a single-skin shutter, so we measure the space above the lintel on survey. Where headroom is very tight, the coil can sometimes be fitted outside the opening or a lower-profile option chosen.

How much does an insulated roller shutter door cost in Spalding?

Our guide price for an electric insulated roller door up to about 4 × 4 m is £3,195 to £7,495 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. We survey your Spalding opening free of charge and then put a fixed price in writing.
