The short version
Is a powered door at your Forth Valley site missing safety devices, or are they damaged or bypassed? We bring older doors up to date with monitored safety edges, photocells, light curtains and fall protection.

Options that matter on site
- Fall protection. Spring-break, cable-break and anti-fall devices against suspension failure.
- Light curtains. Many beams from floor to head detect people and vehicles anywhere in the opening.
- Panel upgrades. Where the old panel cannot monitor devices, we replace it with one that can.
- Safety edges. Edges on the closing rail detect contact and send the door back up.
- Photocells. Beams across the opening that stop the door closing while broken.
Jobs we can carry out
- Fitting a full-height light curtain to an automatic sectional door on a busy pedestrian route.
- Adding anti-fall devices to heavy roller shutters identified in a workplace risk assessment review.
- Adding warning beacons and photocells to a door that is being converted to automatic closing on a timer.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Forth Valley?
In Scotland, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
How the work is organised
For busy sites in Scotland the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Questions from businesses in Forth Valley
Do our powered doors in Forth Valley need safety upgrades?
It depends on how they are controlled and used. Doors that close automatically or on a single press typically need edges and photocells or light curtains. A survey and force test shows whether your doors meet current expectations.
How long does a safety upgrade take in Forth Valley?
Most upgrades take a few hours per door, including re-testing. If a new control panel is needed, it may take longer. We plan work to keep doors out of use for as short a time as possible.
How much does a door safety upgrade cost in Forth Valley?
Our guide price is £445 to £1,795 ex VAT per door for safety edges, photocells or a light curtain, depending on door size and devices. A new control panel or fall protection adds to it. We confirm the fixed price after a survey and force test in Forth Valley.
