Options for door safety upgrades in Edmonton
- Light curtains. Full-height multi-beam detection across the whole opening.
- Fall protection. Spring-break, cable-break and anti-fall devices against suspension failure.
- Photocells. Beams across the opening that stop the door closing while broken.
- Safety edges. Pressure-sensitive or optical edges that stop and reverse the door on contact.
- Panel upgrades. Where the old panel cannot monitor devices, we replace it with one that can.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Force-testing a run of loading bay doors and adjusting closing speeds where results exceed the limits.
- Upgrading an old relay control panel so monitored safety edges and photocells can be connected to it.
- Carrying out safety upgrades on the powered doors of a newly leased unit before a tenant moves in.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Edmonton?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
Sites in and around Edmonton vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.
