What to specify

Safety devices. Every powered door is fitted with the safety functions its risk assessment needs and force-tested before handover.
Wicket doors. Integrated pass doors, including low-threshold versions, for staff access without opening the main door.
Electric drives. Motorised operation with the controls you need, from a simple push-button station to induction loops and radar.
Insulated panels. Steel sandwich panels with a foam core keep heat in and noise out; thicker panels are available for temperature-controlled units.
Finishes. Choose a colour to match your building and a stucco or ribbed finish that hides minor knocks.

Examples of work we can quote for

Converting a manual chain-operated sectional door to electric operation with a shaft-mounted motor, safety edge and photocells.
Adding induction loops and an inverter drive so forklifts can open a busy internal sectional door without stopping.
Renewing torsion springs and lift cables on a busy loading bay door, with higher-cycle springs where the usage justifies them.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Newcastle upon Tyne are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Keeping your site running during the work

For busy sites in Tyne and Wear the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.
