Options for sliding and folding industrial doors in Stornoway

Insulated options. Leaves can be filled with insulated panels and sealed along their edges to cut heat loss.
Wicket doors. Pass doors built into a leaf so staff need not open the whole door.
Wide spans. Openings of almost any width split into as many leaves as needed.
Robust build. Steel frames carry cladding to suit the building, from profiled steel to timber boarding.
Top-hung or bottom-rolling. We hang the door from above or run it on a floor rail depending on what the building can support.

Examples of work we can quote for

Fitting bi-folding doors to a maintenance workshop where overhead gantry cranes rule out a roller shutter or sectional door.
Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
Adding a steel support beam and top-hung track so a sliding door leaves the floor flush for forklifts.

Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland

Industrial doors in Stornoway are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Access, phasing and timing

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
