What we fit in Letchworth Garden City

Louvres and vision. Louvred leaves for plant rooms and vision panels where visibility helps.
Outside access. Staff can get in from outside with a key or code, but the exit always opens freely from inside.
Emergency devices. Lever or push-pad devices to BS EN 179 for exits used by trained staff.
Panic hardware. Push bars to BS EN 1125 where the public or unfamiliar people may use the exit.
Galvanised steel. Leaves made from two zinc-coated steel skins, finished in a hard-wearing powder coat.

Jobs we can carry out

Installing a leaf-and-a-half steel doorset so equipment can pass through a plant room door when needed.
Fitting hinge bolts and a multi-point lock to a steel back door to resist levering and forced entry.
Fitting a louvred double steel door to a plant room or electrical switch room to keep it ventilated and secure.

Which workplace rules apply to these doors?

For premises in Letchworth Garden City, the Workplace Regulations 1992 set the basics: doors suitably constructed, swing doors giving a clear view through when closed, and maintenance under regulation 5. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, an emergency exit door must open easily in the direction of travel and must not be locked or fastened so it cannot be opened immediately in an emergency.

How the work is organised

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Yes. It can be secure from outside, with a key or code device or no external hardware, as long as it always opens from inside using the exit hardware. Never lock or chain a fire exit while people are in the building.
