Options that matter on site
- Leaf choices. Polyethylene, rubber, insulated or stainless-faced leaves to suit the area.
- Double-acting. Leaves open both ways and swing back to centre on their own.
- Wear protection. Kick plates and bumper strips take the knocks at trolley height.
- Vision panels. Clear panels at eye level so people see each other before pushing through.
- No power needed. With no electrics to fail, traffic doors keep working with very little upkeep.
Typical scopes of work
- Renewing cracked leaves, kick plates and gravity hinges on traffic doors in a busy service corridor.
- Replacing worn strip curtains with hygienic traffic doors in a food production area to make cleaning easier.
- Fitting traffic doors at the entrance to a picking zone to keep dust out of the main warehouse.
Which workplace rules apply to these doors?
For premises in Stonehaven, the Workplace Regulations 1992 set the basics: doors suitably constructed, swing doors giving a clear view through when closed, and maintenance under regulation 5. Under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, an emergency exit door must open easily in the direction of travel and must not be locked or fastened so it cannot be opened immediately in an emergency.
How the work is organised
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
