Working with sites across the West Midlands
Need industrial door installers covering the West Midlands? We handle the whole job — survey, specification, supply, installation, commissioning and servicing — for warehouses, factories, workshops and public buildings.
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in the West Midlands?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Fire shutter law in England
A fire shutter only does its job if it closes when needed. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must keep fire safety equipment maintained in efficient working order, and keeping test records is the usual way to show it. Shutters must also stay as the manufacturer tested and certified them, so repairs should use the right parts. In the West Midlands, the enforcing authority is the local fire and rescue authority.
Questions about work in the West Midlands
Do you repair doors you didn't install at the West Midlands sites?
Yes. We repair and service most makes of industrial door and dock leveller, subject to parts availability, and record each door's details on the first visit.
Do prices in England differ from the guide prices?
Guide prices apply to mainland UK sites. For islands and remote sites, travel and access costs are added and shown in your quote. Your fixed price depends on the door, size, access and working hours, and is confirmed in writing after the survey.
Is the survey free for sites in the West Midlands?
Surveys for new doors, replacements and loading bay installations are free. Repair and servicing visits are chargeable, with the attendance price agreed before we come out.
Can you work outside normal hours in the West Midlands?
Yes. Many installations and fire shutter tests are done early, late or at weekends to avoid disrupting operations. Out-of-hours working is priced in the written quote.
