Options that matter on site
- Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
- Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
- Activation options. Buttons, key switches, remotes, pull cords, loops, radar and access control.
- Matched motors. Direct, centre-mounted, chain-drive or tubular motors sized to the door.
- Manual-to-electric. Hand-operated doors converted to power, with the paperwork a powered door needs.
Jobs we can carry out
- Fitting a centre-mounted motor to a roller shutter where a side wall leaves no room at the barrel end.
- Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
- Installing an airlock interlock between two high-speed doors so only one can be open at a time.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Carshalton are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
Access, phasing and timing
Electrical work is the part that most often delays a job. If a new or converted door needs a supply, we confirm the motor's requirement at quote stage so your electrician can provide an isolator in the right place before installation day.

Your questions about door automation and controls
How long does a door automation job take in Carshalton?
A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
Do you take responsibility for the conformity paperwork in Carshalton?
Yes. When we convert a door to power, we carry out the risk assessment, test the door and issue the Declaration of Conformity and user instructions, as the person who has made it a machine.
Do automated doors in Carshalton need more maintenance?
Powered doors need their motors, controls and safety devices checked as well as the mechanical parts, so at least an annual service is common practice, more often for busy doors. Servicing visits are chargeable; the survey for an automation job is free.
