Options for dock shelters and seals in Carshalton
- Inflatable seals. Once the vehicle is in place, inflated bags press against its sides and roof.
- Weather protection. Goods and staff stay out of the weather while the trailer is being worked.
- Foam seals. Compressible pads for a tight seal where vehicles are a uniform size.
- Retractable frames. Spring-loaded scissor arms fold back on impact and return afterwards.
- Sized to your fleet. We size curtains to the vans, rigids and trailers that actually use your bay.
What this work can involve
- Adding rain gutters and guide lights to dock shelters so water stays out of trailers during loading.
- Pricing shelters, levellers and sectional doors together for the refurbishment of an existing goods-in area.
- Fitting retractable dock shelters across a run of bays that serve a mixed fleet of vans and trailers.
Who is responsible for loading bay equipment at a site in Carshalton?
The employer or occupier is. PUWER 1998 requires work equipment to be maintained and inspected, and the Workplace Regulations 1992 cover vehicle and pedestrian routes around the dock. In practice that means planned servicing of levellers and doors, daily pre-use checks and a clear procedure to stop trailers moving during loading.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Yes. We fit inflatable and retractable shelters at cold stores and chilled sites across Greater London, often alongside insulated doors and levellers, to help hold temperature and limit condensation at the dock while trailers are worked.
