What to specify
- Inverter drives. Frequency inverters move busy doors faster while cutting wear on every cycle.
- Manual-to-electric. Conversions for sectional, roller and sliding doors in good order.
- Activation options. Buttons, key switches, remotes, pull cords, loops, radar and access control.
- Matched motors. The motor type and size are chosen for the door's weight, space and cycle count.
- Safety devices. Every automated door gets the detection its risk assessment needs, tested before use.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
- Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
- Converting hand-chained sectional doors to electric operation with push-button controls, safety edges and photocells.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Merseyside?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Door automation and controls in Merseyside: your questions
Can our door in Merseyside be automated?
If the door is in good mechanical order and a suitable motor is available, usually yes. We check balance, springs, cables, guides and the curtain or panels on survey, and recommend repair or replacement first if needed.
How much does it cost to make a door electric in Merseyside?
Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Merseyside follows a free survey.
Can you add interlocks or traffic lights to doors around the North West?
Yes. We fit airlock interlocks, door-to-leveller interlocks, traffic lights and warning beacons to new and existing doors across the North West, subject to compatibility with the control panels already fitted, and replace panels where they cannot accept the extra inputs.
