Options that matter on site
- Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
- Matched motors. The motor type and size are chosen for the door's weight, space and cycle count.
- Activation options. Choose how the door is opened, from staff buttons to automatic vehicle detection.
- Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
- Manual-to-electric. Conversions for sectional, roller and sliding doors in good order.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Adding traffic lights and warning beacons to a yard door shared by lorries and pedestrians.
- Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
- Fitting induction loops and an inverter control panel so forklifts can open a busy internal door without stopping.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Liverpool?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Door automation and controls in Liverpool: your questions
How much does it cost to make a door electric in Liverpool?
Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Liverpool follows a free survey.
Do automated doors in Liverpool need more maintenance?
Powered doors need their motors, controls and safety devices checked as well as the mechanical parts, so at least an annual service is common practice, more often for busy doors. Servicing visits are chargeable; the survey for an automation job is free.
How long does a door automation job take in Liverpool?
A straightforward conversion is usually completed and commissioned in a day. Loops, interlocks and traffic lights add time, and we plan the work so the door is out of use for as little time as possible.
