What to specify
- Matched motors. Direct, centre-mounted, chain-drive or tubular motors sized to the door.
- Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and light curtains, force-tested to BS EN 12453.
- Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
- Traffic lights. Red and green lights and warning beacons for drivers.
- Inverter drives. Frequency inverters move busy doors faster while cutting wear on every cycle.
Typical scopes of work
- Adding radar with cross-traffic suppression to a door on a busy aisle so passing trucks do not open it.
- Installing an airlock interlock between two high-speed doors so only one can be open at a time.
- Replacing an obsolete control panel with a modern unit, then re-testing the safety devices and closing forces.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Doncaster?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
Guide prices

Frequently asked questions
Can you add interlocks or traffic lights to doors around South Yorkshire?
Yes. We fit airlock interlocks, door-to-leveller interlocks, traffic lights and warning beacons to new and existing doors across South Yorkshire, subject to compatibility with the control panels already fitted, and replace panels where they cannot accept the extra inputs.
Do automated doors in Doncaster need more maintenance?
Powered doors need their motors, controls and safety devices checked as well as the mechanical parts, so at least an annual service is common practice, more often for busy doors. Servicing visits are chargeable; the survey for an automation job is free.
Which activation would suit our Doncaster site?
It depends on who uses the door. Buttons suit staff, remotes suit drivers, pull cords and loops suit forklifts, and radar suits mixed traffic. We look at your traffic on survey and recommend a set-up.
