What our engineers check and fix
- Most makes. Shutters from most manufacturers serviced, whether or not we installed them.
- Written records. A service report per shutter for your fire safety logbook.
- Mechanical checks. Curtain, barrel, guides, bottom rail and seals inspected for damage and wear.
- Drive and back-up. Motor, brake, limits and any battery back-up tested.
- Scheduling. Service intervals agreed with you, from annual to six-monthly on busy sites.
Typical scopes of work
- Realigning and clearing fire shutter guides damaged by pallet trucks so nothing prevents a full, square closure.
- Carrying out a first service on fire shutters in a newly occupied unit, recording each shutter's make, label and condition.
- Testing service-yard fire shutters out of hours so the closure test does not block a busy delivery route.
Fire safety duties for shutters in Bletchley
In England, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Bletchley is by the local fire and rescue authority.
Keeping your site running during the work
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
