Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Hastings?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work on hangar door projects with our engineer in Hastings?
Yes. We coordinate loads, fixings, floor rails and steelwork with your structural engineer and main contractor so the door and the building are designed together, and we agree a programme before manufacture.
Do you service large doors across East Sussex?
Yes. We service and repair hangar and large-span doors across East Sussex, including running gear, drives, controls and safety devices. Service and repair visits are chargeable and quoted before work starts.
Can a large door at our Hastings site be operated without power?
Most powered large doors include a manual or emergency means of operation for power failures. How it works depends on the door type and size, and we explain it at handover and in the user instructions.
