What to specify

  • Safety systems. Edge protection, photocells, warning lights, sounders and interlocks.
  • Designed per opening. No off-the-shelf sizes: every large door is designed for its building and location.
  • Drives and controls. Powered leaves with controls to suit the site, plus a way to move the door if power is lost.
  • Vertical-lift fabric. Reinforced fabric curtains with wind bars that fold up beneath the lintel.
  • Load path. We decide with your structural engineer whether the slab or the structure carries the door's weight.

What this work can involve

  • Installing heavy-duty sectional doors with wind-resistant panels across the frontage of a bus or coach garage.
  • Surveying and specifying a very wide sliding or folding door for a building that houses large plant and machinery.
  • Adding warning beacons, sounders and photocells to an older powered large-span door as part of a site risk assessment review.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Hampshire?

In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Planning the work around your site

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Your questions about hangar and large-span doors

Can you refurbish our existing hangar doors in Hampshire?

Often, yes. If the leaves are sound, we renew wheels, guides, drives, cladding and safety devices. Where distortion or corrosion is severe, we explain why replacement may be better value.

How much does a hangar door cost in Hampshire?

Hangar and large-span doors are priced on survey because each is designed for its opening and structure. Typical projects start from around £39,995 ex VAT. After surveying your site in Hampshire, we confirm a fixed price in writing.

Do you work on hangar door projects with our engineer in Hampshire?

Yes. We coordinate loads, fixings, floor rails and steelwork with your structural engineer and main contractor so the door and the building are designed together, and we agree a programme before manufacture.
