What to specify

Conformity paperwork. Handover includes the product and machinery conformity documents plus commissioning records.
All door types. Roller shutters, insulated roller, sectional, high-speed, fire, sliding, hangar and cold store doors.
Drives and controls. Direct, centre or chain drive motors with buttons, remotes, loops, radar or interlocks.
Free survey. Opening, headroom, obstructions, fixings and power all measured before we quote.
Loading equipment. The door, leveller, shelter and impact protection are specified together so the whole bay works as one.

Replacing corroded roller shutters on a vehicle workshop with insulated roller doors and new key-switch controls.
Specifying and fitting a complete goods-in bay with sectional door, hydraulic dock leveller, retractable shelter and bollards.

Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland

Industrial doors in Dumfries are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Access, phasing and timing

Sites in and around Dumfries vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.

Industrial door installation in Dumfries: your questions

Who signs off a new powered door at our Dumfries site?

When we assemble or motorise a door, we take on the manufacturer's role under machinery law: risk assessment, testing, conformity marking and the Declaration of Conformity. You then keep the door maintained as the employer or occupier.

How much does industrial door installation cost in Dumfries?

Guide prices, ex VAT and supplied and fitted, start at £2,395 to £5,495 for an electric single-skin roller shutter up to about 4 × 4 m, or £3,495 to £8,495 for an insulated sectional door. Your fixed price in Dumfries is confirmed in writing after a free survey.

How soon could a new door be installed at our Dumfries premises?

It depends mainly on the manufacturer's lead time for a made-to-measure door, which we confirm in the quote. Installation is then booked around your operations, and most single doors are fitted and commissioned in a day.
