What to specify

Loading equipment. The door, leveller, shelter and impact protection are specified together so the whole bay works as one.
Fixed price. A written fixed price confirmed after the survey, before any work begins.
Safety set-up. Powered doors fitted with safety edges or light curtains and force-tested to BS EN 12453.
Conformity paperwork. Handover includes the product and machinery conformity documents plus commissioning records.
All door types. Roller shutters, insulated roller, sectional, high-speed, fire, sliding, hangar and cold store doors.

What this work can involve

Specifying and fitting a complete goods-in bay with sectional door, hydraulic dock leveller, retractable shelter and bollards.
Adding a high-speed fabric door inside an existing shutter so the main door can stay open through the working day.
Supplying a bottom-rolling sliding door for a wide opening where there is no headroom for a coiled or tracked door.

Powered door rules that apply in Hoddesdon

Hoddesdon is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Questions from businesses in Hoddesdon

Who signs off a new powered door at our Hoddesdon site?

When we assemble or motorise a door, we take on the manufacturer's role under machinery law: risk assessment, testing, conformity marking and the Declaration of Conformity. You then keep the door maintained as the employer or occupier.

How soon could a new door be installed at our Hoddesdon premises?

It depends mainly on the manufacturer's lead time for a made-to-measure door, which we confirm in the quote. Installation is then booked around your operations, and most single doors are fitted and commissioned in a day.

Can you replace an old door at our Hoddesdon unit and take the old one away?

Yes. Strip-out and disposal of the old door is priced as a separate line, along with any new framing or making good the opening needs. We confirm these details at survey so nothing is left to agree on the day.
