How we look after doors in the Highlands and Islands
- Asset register. A register of every door on site, kept up to date.
- Full checklist. Every mechanical and electrical part checked, adjusted and lubricated as needed.
- Most makes. Doors and equipment from most manufacturers serviced.
- Loading bays. Levellers, shelters, bumpers, lights and interlocks serviced on the same visit.
- Safety testing. Safety devices are proven to work and closing forces measured where required.
Jobs we can carry out
- Servicing every loading door at a distribution site at weekends so goods-in runs normally during the week.
- Setting up six-monthly servicing for a run of loading bay doors and dock levellers at a distribution centre.
- Taking over maintenance of mixed door makes on a multi-let industrial estate and building an asset register.
Powered door rules that apply in the Highlands and Islands
The Highlands and Islands is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
How the work is organised
On a first visit we record each door's make, size, control type and condition. That record makes later repairs quicker to price and helps you plan replacements before a door fails.
