Options that matter on site
- Photocells. If something breaks the beam, the door will not close.
- Records. You receive a record of the devices fitted and the tests carried out.
- Fall protection. If a spring, cable or drive fails, the door is caught before it falls.
- Force testing. Closing forces measured against BS EN 12453 limits and recorded.
- Light curtains. Many beams from floor to head detect people and vehicles anywhere in the opening.
Jobs we can carry out
- Carrying out safety upgrades on the powered doors of a newly leased unit before a tenant moves in.
- Fitting spring-break and cable-break devices to older sectional doors installed without any fall protection.
- Upgrading an old relay control panel so monitored safety edges and photocells can be connected to it.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
How the work is organised
Sites in and around the East Riding of Yorkshire vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.

Frequently asked questions
Do you upgrade doors from other installers across Yorkshire and the Humber?
Yes. We upgrade safety devices on most makes of powered door across Yorkshire and the Humber, whoever installed them, checking that new devices are compatible with the existing control panel and replacing the panel where needed.
Do our powered doors in the East Riding of Yorkshire need safety upgrades?
It depends on how they are controlled and used. Doors that close automatically or on a single press typically need edges and photocells or light curtains. A survey and force test shows whether your doors meet current expectations.
How long does a safety upgrade take in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Most upgrades take a few hours per door, including re-testing. If a new control panel is needed, it may take longer. We plan work to keep doors out of use for as short a time as possible.
