In short
Older door control panels may not accept modern monitored safety devices. At premises in Fife, we can replace them where needed, adding inverter control and better fault diagnostics in the same visit.

Options that matter on site
- Safety edges. Edges on the closing rail detect contact and send the door back up.
- Warning devices. Beacons, sounders and traffic lights to warn people of a moving door.
- Light curtains. Full-height multi-beam detection across the whole opening.
- Fall protection. Spring-break, cable-break and anti-fall devices against suspension failure.
- Force testing. We measure how hard the door closes and record the results at each test point.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Carrying out safety upgrades on the powered doors of a newly leased unit before a tenant moves in.
- Force-testing a run of loading bay doors and adjusting closing speeds where results exceed the limits.
- Fitting spring-break and cable-break devices to older sectional doors installed without any fall protection.
Powered door rules that apply in Fife
Fife is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
How the work is organised
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Door safety upgrades in Fife: your questions
Can you force-test our doors in Fife?
Yes. We measure closing forces with a calibrated tester at the points set out in BS EN 12453, record the results and recommend any adjustments or devices needed. Force testing can be part of a service visit.
Do you upgrade doors from other installers across Scotland?
Yes. We upgrade safety devices on most makes of powered door across Scotland, whoever installed them, checking that new devices are compatible with the existing control panel and replacing the panel where needed.
Our door at our Fife site has a bypassed safety edge. What should we do?
Stop using the door under power until the safety device is working, or use it on hold-to-run only if the risk assessment allows. We can replace the edge or fit alternative detection and re-test the door.
