Door safety upgrades in Elgin

What we fit in Elgin

Light curtains. Many beams from floor to head detect people and vehicles anywhere in the opening.
Records. You receive a record of the devices fitted and the tests carried out.
Panel upgrades. Where the old panel cannot monitor devices, we replace it with one that can.
Safety edges. Pressure-sensitive or optical edges that stop and reverse the door on contact.
Warning devices. Beacons, sounders and traffic lights to warn people of a moving door.

Examples of work we can quote for

Fitting a full-height light curtain to an automatic sectional door on a busy pedestrian route.
Adding anti-fall devices to heavy roller shutters identified in a workplace risk assessment review.
Upgrading an old relay control panel so monitored safety edges and photocells can be connected to it.

Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland

Industrial doors in Elgin are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Access, phasing and timing

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Door safety upgrades in Elgin: your questions

Our door at our Elgin site has a bypassed safety edge. What should we do?

Stop using the door under power until the safety device is working, or use it on hold-to-run only if the risk assessment allows. We can replace the edge or fit alternative detection and re-test the door.

How much does a door safety upgrade cost in Elgin?

Our guide price is £445 to £1,795 ex VAT per door for safety edges, photocells or a light curtain, depending on door size and devices. A new control panel or fall protection adds to it. We confirm the fixed price after a survey and force test in Elgin.

Can you force-test our doors in Elgin?

Yes. We measure closing forces with a calibrated tester at the points set out in BS EN 12453, record the results and recommend any adjustments or devices needed. Force testing can be part of a service visit.
