In short
Older door control panels may not accept modern monitored safety devices. At premises in Blackpool, we can replace them where needed, adding inverter control and better fault diagnostics in the same visit.

Options that matter on site
- Warning devices. Beacons, sounders and traffic lights to warn people of a moving door.
- Force testing. We measure how hard the door closes and record the results at each test point.
- Photocells. Beams across the opening that stop the door closing while broken.
- Safety edges. Pressure-sensitive or optical edges that stop and reverse the door on contact.
- Records. Written results and updated risk assessment for your files.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Carrying out safety upgrades on the powered doors of a newly leased unit before a tenant moves in.
- Fitting a full-height light curtain to an automatic sectional door on a busy pedestrian route.
- Force-testing a run of loading bay doors and adjusting closing speeds where results exceed the limits.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Blackpool?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Will a safety upgrade at our Blackpool premises include paperwork?
Yes. We record the devices fitted, the force test results and any changes to the control panel, and update the door's risk assessment, giving you written evidence that the door was checked and upgraded.
Can you force-test our doors in Blackpool?
Yes. We measure closing forces with a calibrated tester at the points set out in BS EN 12453, record the results and recommend any adjustments or devices needed. Force testing can be part of a service visit.
How much does a door safety upgrade cost in Blackpool?
Our guide price is £445 to £1,795 ex VAT per door for safety edges, photocells or a light curtain, depending on door size and devices. A new control panel or fall protection adds to it. We confirm the fixed price after a survey and force test in Blackpool.
